Nigerian Center’s Response:

House Resolution 82, the Redesignation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) to the United States

Summary

- Expressed the need to designate Nigeria as a country of particular concern due to egregious religious freedom violations.
- Introduced on January 31, 2023, by Representative Christopher H. Smith [R-NJ-4] to the House, then referred to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
- There are currently 30 co-sponsors of the resolution, 29 Republicans and 1 Democrat.
